Getting to Know You – diving into wordpress

Greetings theatre lovers, fans from Blogspot, and friends forced into coming to check this blog out. If you’re a returning reader, thanks for coming back. If you’re new to the world of Theatre Focus, welcome, let me introduce myself.

Firstly some plugging. I implore you to go and check out Theatre Focus’s original site at http://theatrefocus.blogspot.co.uk/ You’ll find some great reviews, countdown lists of musical theatre songs and an exclusive report on the final year Contemporary Acting students at East 15 Acting School.

Theatre Focus is a brand new blog that brings reviews, discussions and more to theatre lovers around the world. Founded by Abigail Briggs in March 2012, after a particularly inspiring production of Sweeny Todd at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End, Theatre Focus received an overwhelming amount of views for its first ever review. The review was met with positive reactions from both readers and members of the Sweeny Todd cast alike. Lucy May Barker, who played Joanna, called it a “great and well-rounded review”. Publicly applauded and retweeted on twitter by members of the cast it concerned, Theatre Focus was given instant acceptance and support from the theatre world. Further reviews and positive reactions from the casts, companies and theatres concerned, such as the Leicester Curve Theatre, London Theatre Direct, “Gypsy” actress Victoria Hamilton-Barrit and West End stars Alexia Khadime and James McConville, has led to increasing support and acceptance of Theatre Focus as a reliable, impartial review site. Following on from this success, a run down and discussion of the 50 greatest songs in musical theatre was introduced to the blog. This allows and encourages fans to join in a discussion of the subject and have their say. Further run downs are planned to follow the completion of this list. Theatre Focus continues to grow and develop into a well-rounded, reliable and impartial site where fans of the theatre can read reviews and enter discussions with other fans.

Formalities over, Theatre Focus started on Blogspot and will CONTINUE to run on there. I will not be posting articles that have already been posted on that site, so from now on Theatre Focus WordPress will be working in tandem with Theatre Focus, to reach a wider audience.
I will be posting Theatre Focus’s first WordPress review, of ‘Abigail’s Party’ at the Wyndham’s Theatre, at some point in the near future, so please, check back soon!

Thanks for picking up my piece on Antigone. Your blog is beautifully written and I’ll enjoy following and exploring it. It’s particularly nice to see someone who takes musical theatre seriously.

    1. Thank you so much, that’s really kind! I’m not used to WordPress yet, but hopefully I’ll be posting much more in the future!
